Black River Stage [2004/B&W/8mins]
Synopsis:
The origin of darkness is the place of my memory. Walking against the water flow, I saw nothing but myself. Alone, in the dark. The water stream guides me there, to show and tell a micro-history hidden in the urbanization. It is a record of past through the present eye.
Director’s Note:
When I was small I always passed by this river canal. I was forbidden to play in the canal though it is only a small stream. I always asked my mother about the origin of the river, but no one really knew. In 2003/4 I went there to make this video. The inter-titles are chosen from my favorite book in the bible—The Ecclesiastes (傳道書).
